Tumbleweed’s Dreams on a Ride (outlaw’s desert town blues)

CH      If the sheriff hadn’t laughed just – and showed me the door
I wouldn’t with a shoot-out – have settled that deal
this saloon should have better called the close – long before
now I dust you – right off my old heels.

A1       I’m a mirage – a passing old tumbleweed’s dance – had
been out there – in that desert all lost
been searching – been desperate for – a real cool well
blue skies turned to – a burning red hell

B1       But then when I finally – had made it to town
well I found that – my baby was gone
lured down to the saloon for – some dinner and champagne
on the arms of some bad-ass – oh no !
real bad-ass old gambling man
sweet company for him and his gang

CH

A2      I’m  searching again now – for a real cool well
I’m out here in this desert – some more
I’m a mirage – a passing old tumbleweed’s scream
under a sky turned to a – burning red hell

B2       Alas I feel lucky – made it out of this town
had to break me new trails – to escape
in a distant dusty haze I see – some banshees a’ dancing
in their claws some real poor shits – oh well
your gambling man it is – and his whole rotten gang
safe you – I’d made sure to aim well

B3       I’m so glad to have made it – right out of this town
had to learn my own tricks back – to hide
in that blazing distant haze – those banshees are gone
leave a wide open desert to stride
a wide open desert to – be taken right on
no boundaries left there – constricting my ride

B4       Tell you now that I’ve made it – right out of  that town
let a wide open roll be my friend
had to shoot them n’ dust them – all off my old heels
gain a wide open desert to stride

CH + let some tumbleweed’s dance be – my guide for a while
I’ll take this tumbleweed’s dreams on a ride               2000-2020
